Key Responsibilities Certified Payroll Accountant
* Will be responsible for managing all certified payroll functions for union projects while also supporting broader accounting operations. This is a hands-on role for a Certified Payroll Accountant who is detail-oriented, reliable, and well-versed in the complexities of commercial construction payroll compliance
* Serve as the primary Certified Payroll Accountant responsible for preparing and submitting accurate certified payroll reports
* Maintain all required union payroll documentation, wage classifications, and fringe benefit reporting
* Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and municipal certified payroll requirements
* Manage AP and AR functions, including invoicing, vendor payments, lien waivers, and reconciliations
* Support job cost tracking and collaborate closely with project managers and operations
* Assist with month-end close, audits, and financial reporting
* Provide continuous support as the Certified Payroll Accountant to improve accounting workflows and processes
* Contribute to a team atmosphere built on communication, trust, and shared accountability
Qualifications
* 5-15 years of commercial construction accounting experience
* Proven experience as a Certified Payroll Accountant within a union environment
* Strong knowledge of prevailing wage laws, union reporting, and certified payroll compliance
* Experience with AP/AR, billing, job costing, and reconciliations
* Familiarity with construction accounting software (Foundation, Sage, Viewpoint, etc.) preferred
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills and a team-focused mindset
